1. Jesus came to America

Mormons believe that Jesus came to America. The Book of Mormon takes place on the American continent and takes place the same time as the Bible! Never mind Columbus. Jesus came to the Americas after he was resurrected to visit. The Book of Mormon traces the tales of two tribes that descended from the family of “Lehi.” The Mormons also preach that the LDS church is the only true church of Jesus Christ.

2.) Angel Visitation

Mormons believe Joseph Smith had a heavenly visitation in 1823 where an angle named “Moroni” told him about a sacred history that was written by ancient Hebrews in The Americas. This history was engraved on gold Tablets and the angel told Joseph Smith it was buried in a nearby hill. The angel told Joseph Smith that it was a history of ancient people of The Americas and that it was his job to bring this record of knowledge to the world. Smith claims to have obtained these plates in 1827 and translated them into English with a special instrument that accompanied the plates. This was translated and became the Book of Mormon. Only eleven close friends of Smith ever saw the plates and no third parties were ever allowed to examine them before they were “retrieved” by the angel at a later date.

3.) Baptism of the Dead

Mormons believe dead people can be converted to being Mormons by baptizing them. This is done by a living person stands in for the dead person and is baptized by immersion in water. The stand-in person has to be the same gender as the deceased. This is also called baptism by proxy or vicarious baptism. During the ritual, after the stand in is called in by name, the person conducting the baptism says, "Having been commissioned of Jesus Christ, I baptize you for and in behalf of [deceased person], who is dead, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Amen." Millions of dead people have been baptized this way, like your relatives and Jewish Holocaust victims. Baptism is required before a person can enter the "Kingdom of God."

4.) Magic Underwear

Mormons have magic underwear! Mormons obtain magic underwear, known as “temple garment” after going through a ritual called the “washing and anointing ordinance.” This ceremony is usually done as a part of the “Endowment” ceremony. Mormons believe these garments are sacred. The underwear is uncomfortable, which helps keep the body pure by making it difficult to get sexually excited while wearing it.

5. Priesthood

Any male can be given the priesthood which requires certain duties, and Mormons believe priesthood is given to them by Holy Angels. Females are not allowed to be given the priesthood, and black people were not allowed to become priests until 1978. Blacks were not being given the priesthood before supposedly because the Holy Angeles didn’t want them to have it (meaning the Holy Angels and Jesus himself was supposedly racist!) The Mormons came to their decision to allow black people to become priest after hours of prayer seeking divine guidance.

6. Spirits in the Material World

Mormons believe that every living person on earth now is a spirit in the “pre-existence” stage of life. After our death, our spirits separate from our bodies. If we were a good person, we go to a “spirit paradise.” However if we were bad, we go to a “spirit prison.” This spirit world exists as a place to hang out while we wait for the second coming.

7. Polygamy

Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church, taught that a man who took ten wives with him to heaven was ten times more likely to become God of his own planet than a man who only took one wife. Joseph Smith even married a woman who was already married to someone else.

8. Multiple Heavens

Mormons believe there are three heavens: the Celestial Kingdom, the Terrestrial Kingdom, and the Telestial Kingdom. The Celestial Kingdom is the highest and it is where God and people who followed God’s law reside. The middle heaven is the Terrestrial Kingdom, and that it is where those that followed the Law of Moses reside. Finally, the Telestial Kingdom is the lowest and for those who followed carnal law.

9. Tithing

A tithe is giving a portion of your earnings, usually 10%, to the church. Mormons believe that giving a tithe is mandatory. In order to make it into the highest kingdom of heaven, you must pay your full and honest tithe.

10. Multiple Worlds and Multiple Gods

Mormons believe God created multiple worlds with people living on each one. There are also multiple Gods each one with their own universe. People on Earth are only subject to our God and we can become gods ourselves if we obtain the highest level of heaven. Mormons also believe that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are separate beings and God and Jesus as well as resurrected beings have bodies made of “flesh and bone.”
